Link EU COVID certificate digitally with ID card data – Verimi is the first provider in Germany to make this possible

Berlin, September 02, 2021. With the current app release, Verimi extends the established COVID passport and now offers users to link their COVID certificate with their digital ID data in the Verimi app. Successful linking is immediately displayed in the Verimi app and can facilitate proof of identity in everyday life. For example, when purchasing personalized tickets or making hotel bookings, users can use a simple button to retrieve confirmation from partner companies, making it easier to gain entry or check-in.

For the verification of identity data, users can use all Verimi identity methods, such as Verimi Bank-Ident, the eID function of the ID card, Video-Ident or Photo-Ident. When uploading, Verimi checks the digital COVID certificate of the EU, so that only genuine certificates find their way into the personal wallet, i.e. the Verimi Wallet. In this way, Verimi counteracts the circulation of invalid COVID certificates.

With Verimi, all data is stored in the personal digital wallet, the ID wallet – additionally protected with a second factor if desired. Users can retrieve their COVID passport from Verimi across all devices with their secure login and can thus continue to use their digital COVID certificate even if they lose or change their smartphone.
